    Steve first met Tom in 1988 when, having recently fallen under the spell of A Humument, he interviewed him for Fiction Magazine. Subsequently they kept in touch and Steve reviewed Tom's cluster of London exhibitions in 1992 for the TLS.

    In 2010 Steve was approached about a redesign of the Tom Phillips website. His background in writing and in the visual (having previously worked as a photographic retoucher and as an illustrator for such clients as The Guardian and RSC, and currently as a consultant in web publishing) provides him with a good fit for the wide-ranging demands of materials as richly various as Tom's work.
