This fourth edition follows its predecessors by incorporating revisions and re-workings - over half the pages in the 1980 edition are replaced by new versions - and celebrates an artistic enterprise that is nearly forty years old and still actively a work in progress.

Prior to publication as a paperback by Thames & Hudson in early 2005, a special hardback edition limited to 175 copies was available in the autumn of 2004 to friends and known followers of the work.

Each of these copies is signed and numbered and also includes, loosely inserted, two signed and numbered prints of unpublished excerpts.
