The image of crafty Jason is half masked by that of Hypsipyle fading in his mind after he abandoned her, with directional arrows overlaid on a reproduction of a reproduction of an original image of a freeway in Los Angeles – a devious procedure appropriate to Jason, whose seafaring and convoluted artfulness are figured in the waves superimposed on the road-system.
